Service Description

We are excited to introduce our new Relaxation at the Park class specifically designed for dogs needing to work on impulse control around other dogs. During this hour-long class, our experienced trainers will focus on helping your dog learn to simply be at the park without being overly fixated on the other dogs or activities happening around them. By working in a normal park environment we can have unique and varying distractions in each class and provide hands-on life training. Our aim is to help your dog learn to focus on the task at hand while being calm and collected. Prior to your first class, you will be scheduled for an hour-long online session. This session will discuss the flow of class so you know what to expect before you arrive at the first class. We will discuss proper leash techniques as well as some new ways to use our leash to guide our dogs while trying to maintain minimal pressure and control. Part of the class will be you and your dog working on individual focus with one another and the other part will be you and your trainer working with your dog to guide them through a series of exercises commonly found in a Playground of Higher Learning. These exercises help to slow down your dog, allow them time to make controlled choices, and give them a task to focus on while working in a distracting environment. Our goal is to help your dog develop the skills and confidence they need to enjoy themselves and behave appropriately in any park setting. This service is perfect for those who want to improve their dog's behavior while enjoying the outdoors. Our class is designed for dogs who have already worked on exercises related to impulse control and can be redirected using various techniques when necessary. This class is not for the highly reactive dog that still requires a large threshold of distance. For those clients, we will recommend one-on-one sessions before admitting entry into the class for the safety of your dog and the other clients. Prerequisites for this class include a consultation for behavior, and at least 2 private lessons, one to learn the necessary exercises for class and then to be able to demonstrate an adequate understanding of application in a park setting. Our priority is making sure that dogs feel safe, and to reduce stress so we do not rush dogs into this class. Call us today to sign up for this exciting new class and give your dog the gift of relaxation and confidence! **Weather Permitting**
